KWS acknowledges the outcome of today’s vote of the European Parliament (EP) on the Plant Reproductive Material (PRM) proposal. From the company’s perspective the text approved by the Members of the European Parliament puts at risk the well proven pillars of the PRM legislation, that ensured the delivery of high-quality input for all farmers, growers and all users, thus opening for certain material to be exempted by the scope of the legislation and in the future.

KWS mourns the loss of our Chairman of the Supervisory Board and long-time companion Philip Freiherr von dem Bussche. He passed away on April 8, 2024 after a serious illness at the age of 74.

International seed specialist KWS sells its corn business activities in Brazil and Argentina to the Argentinian plant genetics company GDM. Both companies signed a binding agreement today. With this step, KWS follows its strategic targets related to crop diversity and independence.

The Week of the Environment, sponsored by the German Federal Environmental Foundation (DBU), is held every four years. This year, KWS and other partners (Foundation of the University of Veterinary Medicine Hanover, Brand Qualitätsfleisch)1 were selected to present their joint marketing and feeding project. The expert jury was impressed by how the regional marketing of pork, combined with a low-emission feeding concept with a high proportion of hybrid rye, is helping make food production more sustainable.

On Wednesday 13 March, seed specialist KWS officially opened their new breeding station in Sinaloa, Mexico. There, the company will carry out breeding for tomato and pepper as well as screening activities for cucumber, melon and watermelon. Since its entry into the long-term growth market for vegetable seeds in 2019, KWS has been building a global network of sites to expand its breeding and sales activities across new regions.
